Welcome
Beara Camera Club is the forum for photographers living and working on the Beara peninsula, at the westernmost edge of County Cork in Ireland.
The club welcomes anyone, young or old, who is interested in any aspect of photography—from black-and-white to colour, from beginner to professional, from traditional film to the latest digital, from snapshots to studio, from portraits to landscape to sport to photo-journalism… As long as you are interested in looking at photographs, hearing about them, talking about them, and (probably, but not necessarily) taking them, you’ll be very welcome, whatever your level of knowledge and experience.
Our activities include discussion meetings, field trips, and exhibitions—we mount a monthly window display in Castletownbere library, where every member is able to show photographs on a given theme. We also run photography courses—see the Courses page.
We meet, very informally, at 8.00pm on the second Monday of each month at Twomey’s Bar, Castletownbere. New members are always welcome, and your first meeting is free! Thereafter the subscription is €5 a month, plus €1 for members with gallery pages on the club’s website.
