Beara Camera Club offers photography courses both for beginners and for experienced amateurs. Each course is run either as six weekly evening workshops of 1½-2 hours, or as a weekend course of six workshops over two days, in Castletownbere, and costs €80 per participant.
Introduction to photography
No previous knowledge of photography is required. The course covers the basic operations of the camera, choosing shots, and the creative use of scene controls.
Improving your photography
For those with some basic knowledge of photography who would like to learn more about camera controls and techniques.
Style and Presentation
For those with some confidence in photography who would like to advance their skills by preparing a portfolio for display on a theme of their choice.
Fun with Photoshop
Editing techniques for improving digital images or creating photographic artwork.

Distinctions Group
We also have a Distinctions Group—a forum for members who are experienced and confident photographers and who are preparing portfolios for submission to the Irish Photographic Federation or to the Royal Photographic Society for assessment and potential award of a 'distinction'—a recognised photographic qualification. The group meets monthly for informal discussions and mutual encouragement, but there is no tuition available.
